This is a photo of our daughter while on Skype. The significance of the photo is our matching backgrounds. When we visited Denver this summer we stayed in a beautiful heritage house. Our room was ‘The Aspen Room” with 360* paintings of aspen trees including the vaulted tower ceiling. She has a lovely fabric hanging of aspen trees bought in Calgary as a gift from her grandmother. She has lived in many apartments in Vancouver and Milan and so the fabric hanging is a very transportable piece of art. Every one of her apartments gets adorned with the aspen trees. Wherever I visit her, the aspen trees are there.
It is this visual form of information, beyond a photograph, that exemplifies the growing range of media available to students. They can gain information from media and they can produce media in order to further their learning.
